A little over a year ago, iSuppli was warning that sales and shipments would decline amid the economic condition. Over that time, prices have decreased for LCD HDTVs and customers have been noticing. It’s the point where you can barely going a week or two without seeing an ad scan with a new lowest price being advertised.
These deeply discounted television has helped propel sales and given iSuppli a change of heart. In a Nov. 5th report, iSuppli has seen the light and thinks that shipments may even see an earnest increase over 2008 levels. This is in large part due to the continued aggressive pricing and the prospect of sales on Black Friday. As 32 inch LCD HDTVs get closer to $300 and 42 inch LCD HDTVs approaching $500 there is a lot of enthusiasm from shopping who are probably looking forward to no longer being under the burden of an economic downturn.
You can read the rest of iSuppli’s report here.
